Studies of Tokyo Alleyways

Layered in the shadows of Shimokitazawa are narrow passages lined with electrical wirings adorned with delicate houseplants. The gaps are ambiguous in nature, originally planned for seismic protection, the alleys are owned by no one yet occupied by everyone. For some it's a service corridor while others enjoy it as a garden. The alleys are the backstage to the theatrical city, where urban norms are ignored, interiors overflow, exteriors negotiated, and the unintended is seen. The observations in Tokyo contributed to the transformation of the London Coliseum.
