By excavating the grounds surrounding the original Munch Museum building and diffusing the lower level exterior walls across the park, the concrete enclosure appears to float delicately above the landscape that gently rolls into the central court, leading visitors to the botanical gardens in the upper level. The diffused walls form a series of kitchen gardens for the new restaurant Maaemo. Amongst them, some are thickened to accommodate dinning rooms and others to retain the kitchen's exhaust heat, keeping the desert garden warm.
